ABSA Bank Uganda donates Funds to Baylor Foundation Uganda

ABSA Bank Uganda has donated funds to six organizations, including Baylor Foundation Uganda (BFU), from the 300 million Uganda Shillings raised by the ABSA KH3-7 Hills Run. This initiative is dedicated to supporting the education of the girl child.
The grant to BFU will bolster the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief/ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (PEPFAR/U.S. CDC) DREAMS initiative in the Fort Portal-Mubende region of Uganda.

The DREAMS initiative, which stands for Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS Free, Mentored and Safe, targets the most vulnerable adolescents and young women (AGYW) who are either out of school or on the brink of dropping out. It equips them with a package of evidence-based interventions to lower their risk of contracting HIV/AIDS. These interventions include HIV testing and contraception and sexually transmitted infection screenings and treatment to further prevent new HIV infections among AGYW.
In his remarks, Mr. Mumba Kenneth Kalifungwa, Managing Director of Absa Bank Uganda, underscored the bank’s commitment to children’s education, declaring, “Education is a fundamental right for every child. Every child’s story is significant,” stressing the need to decrease child dropout rates in Uganda.
Dr. Dithan Kiragga, the Executive Director of Baylor Foundation Uganda, thanked ABSA for its dedication to quality and excellence, which aligns with Baylor’s mission to provide excellent services to its clients.
Baylor Foundation Uganda is a not-for-profit organization that collaborates with district and community structures to provide comprehensive health care services in over 60 districts in Uganda. These services include: HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Reproductive Maternal Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health, Non-Communicable Diseases, and combination HIV prevention services for children, adolescents, young people, and adults.
