Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation-Uganda (Baylor-Uganda) with support from the United States Government through PEPFAR is supporting comprehensive HIV/AIDS and other health interventions through Health System Strengthening in the seven districts of Ruwenzori region; Kyegegwa, Kyenjonjo, Kamwenge, Kabarole, Kasese, Ntoroko and Bundibugyo. The region has high HIV prevalence rates and one of the highest TB incidences in the country. Baylor Uganda has adopted a number of interventions to fight HIV/AIDS in this region including Community – Facility HIV service model where it has engaged a number of Community Based Organizations (CBOs). The Minister of State for Primary Health Care Hon. Dr. Moriku Joyce (guest of honour) together with Baylor Uganda’s Executive Director Dr. Addy Kekitiinwa, officially handed over funds amounting to 2.15 billion Uganda shillings to support HIV services in the Ruwenzori region for the period of May 2017 to August 2017. This was at the ceremonial hand over of the sub grants. This event was held on Thursday 22nd June 2017 at Boma Grounds in Fort portal Kabarole district. The Minister of State for Primary Health Care Hon. Dr. Moriku Joyce also commissioned the maternity and neo natal intensive care unit and laboratory at Rukunyu Health Centre IV in Kamwenge district.
